Join us to generate stories, created by you with the help of AI.

Dates and locations:

  • Thu. March 27 | 6 PM–8 PM @ Mitchell Park Library
  • Sun. April 6 | 10:30 AM–12:30 PM @ Mitchell Park Community Center
  • Tue. April 8 | 4:30 PM–6:30 PM @ Mitchell Park Library

This workshop will be for absolute beginners and for all ages. You only need a personal computer and a desire to explore the emerging ecosystem of AI tools. Participants younger than 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Working in groups, participants will gain hands-on experience using AI to generate short stories or poetry, narrated by AI generated voices and depicted with images also generated by AI. We will then patch everything together into short videos which will be published to the Library's YouTube channel.

You will learn about:

  • Leading tools in the AI space
  • How to generate a prompt for AI models
  • Current limitations of the technology

Along the way, we will discuss the potential benefits and perils the technology poses to society.

*Participants 18+ who have attended at least one of the Library's AI programs will be eligible to participate in AI Focus Groups for a $50 Amazon gift card. The goal of this research is to understand the role public libraries may play in raising awareness about AI and promoting inclusive civic engagement in AI initiatives.
