Transition of Palo Alto Link to Other Community Resources Available
Palo Alto Link will cease service on Friday, October 30, 2026. There are several community resources listed above for residents to fit their needs. Additionally, the City is working with our non-profit partner, Palo Alto Transportation Management Association (PATMA) to extend their programs for qualifying senior, disabled and/or low-income residents and workers beginning October 1. Through PATMA, free train and bus passes, free refurbished BikeX bikes and free, accessible rides are available.
Through a partnership with Avenidas, rides for older adults (65+) and people with disabilities are available within Palo Alto and Stanford to medical appointments, social activities, volunteering, work, and exercise and to run errands.
The Palo Alto Transportation Management Association was established by City Council direction in 2014 and is a non-profit organization that develops, manages and markets programs to promote sustainable transportation.
Background & Contact Information for the City's Pilot Palo Alto Link Service
Throughout the Palo Alto Link program, the service relied on grants to cover operating costs to the City, approximately $26 per ride. It launched with Measure B Innovative Transit funds on March 7, 2023. Since then, the City partnered with Stanford Research Park, and received two Transportation For Clean Air (TFCA) grants to extend the pilot through October 30, 2026. The service continues through Friday, October 30, 2026.
