Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan Update

The Bike and Pedestrian Transportation Plan update is underway to reflect and prioritize community needs, and to address changes in bicycle and pedestrian planning and design since the last update in 2012.

California law to increase visibility and improve safety

As of Jan. 1, 2025, it is illegal to park a vehicle within 20 feet of a crosswalk (marked or unmarked) or within 15 feet of a crosswalk with a curb extension or bulb-out. The law aims to enhance safety by improving visibility at intersections.

The Creek Monitor and other systems are monitored by City of Palo Alto staff when conditions warrant and staffing permits. These creek levels and other data are provided for information purposes only. Because of complex factors, including tides and soil saturation, the creek depth readings may reach high levels with little or no danger to the public.

Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers Prohibited in Residential Neighborhoods

The City is reminding the public to go with an electric or battery-powered blower, or grab a rake or broom, for landscaping and garden clean ups in our residential areas. Gas-powered leaf blowers not only pollute our air but make a lot of noise that disturb our neighborhoods.
