Meet the City Attorney

Christopher Jensen has served Palo Alto as City Attorney since March 2026. He is the chief lawyer to the Palo Alto City Council and City Manager and leads a 13-person full-service legal team with a $5 million annual budget.

Before coming to Palo Alto, Mr. Jensen served as Assistant City Attorney at the City of Berkeley. He previously served as Cupertino’s City Attorney and has 14 years of experience in private practice.  

Mr. Jensen received his J.D. from Stanford Law School where he graduated Order of the Coif. He received a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego. He is a Committee Member of the California League of Cities Legal Advocacy Committee (2021- present).
