Palo Alto, CA – Police arrested a man Monday evening after he was found in a residence.
On Monday, August 25, 2025, at about 5:32 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a residential burglary that was in progress in the 1400 block of Hamilton Avenue. Officers from the Palo Alto Police Department responded to the area and were told the suspect had possibly escaped into a neighboring yard by jumping the fence. Officers conducted a search of the neighboring yards and located the suspect. The suspect was detained without incident.
The investigation revealed that the resident, a man in his seventies, had been away on vacation. When he returned home, he found that the garage of the residence had been ransacked and personal property was missing. As the victim went to check the backyard, he saw the suspect exit the ADU and jump over a fence into a neighboring yard.
Police booked 34-year-old Dwight Tucker Jr. of Clearlake Oaks into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for residential burglary and violating probation (both felonies), and misdemeanor providing false information to police (for providing a fake name to officers). Tucker’s booking photo appears above.
