Temporary Street Markings on Charleston/Arastradero Corridor – Phase 3
Published on August 09, 2021
On June 22, 2021, City Council awarded the construction contract (Staff Report #12005) for the Charleston-Arastradero Corridor Project – Phase 3 to O’Grady Paving Inc. At the end of August, O’Grady will be laying out temporary markings to let corridor users and residents see what the improvements will look like and allow vehicles to navigate the planned street changes. Corridor users can expect to see temporary white and pink paint showing the layout of the new features and informational signs at intersection corners. The temporary markings will be laid out for four weeks prior to the start of construction work.
The new features are aimed at increasing safety by moderating vehicle speeds and turning speeds, decreasing pedestrian crossing times and exposure to traffic, and increasing the visibility of oncoming traffic when exiting side streets. New features include a continuous bicycle lane along the corridor, curb extensions, and curb ramps compliant with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Staff will be hosting a virtual informational meeting on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this meeting to learn about the project and what to expect to during construction. Find more information, including Zoom details.
