Lia Cook
About the artist:
A pioneer in fiber arts, Lia Cook has been creating innovative textile work since the 1970s. Cook weaves both intimately-scaled works and large tapestries that can take months to finish. A 1990s collaboration with Greg Siegle, Ph.D. sparked her exploration of the relationship between brainwave patterns and woven structures.
Cook earned her MA in Art and Design from UC Berkeley in 1973 and taught art at the California College of the Arts for over 40 years. Over the course of her career, she has combined the manual Jacquard loom with digital weaving technologies and computer programs to produce her work. She lives and works in Berkeley, CA.
