In the Public Interest: Answering questions on police procedures

A new blog by Police Chief Robert Jonsen answers community questions on police department procedures and related topics of community interest that were discussed at the April 5 Council Study Session, including ways that the department has expanded public information, online reporting and focused on race and equity.
While the department has been forced to change how they handle media inquiries due to budget challenges, the commitment to respond and provide timely information has not changed and the blog shares ways his team accomplishes this through continued support of media inquiries, publishing a daily police log, issuing news releases and more. It also provides an update on the department’s move to encrypt radio transmissions to protect personal identifying information, as most other law enforcement agencies in Santa Clara County have done this past year.
