Palo Alto Police Conducting DUI Checkpoint on June 21, 2025
Published on June 17, 2025
Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto Police Department will conduct a Driving Under the Influence checkpoint at an undisclosed location within the City of Palo Alto from 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21st to 2:00 a.m., Sunday, June 22nd.
The primary purpose of these checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and are conducted by strict legal guidelines to protect the rights of motorists. These guidelines require law enforcement agencies to provide advance notice of the checkpoints to the public, ensuring transparency and fairness in the enforcement process.
The Palo Alto Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not limited to alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving, and driving while under the influence of drugs, including marijuana, is illegal.
While the primary goal of a checkpoint is to apprehend impaired drivers, it is also a valuable opportunity for law enforcement officers to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.
