Palo Alto, CA Police are investigating a street robbery reported early on Saturday morning in downtown Palo Alto.  The two suspects are at large.

On Saturday, September 25, 2021, at about 4:47 a.m., the East Palo Alto Police Department notified our 24-hour dispatch center that a resident of their city had called them to report he had been robbed in Palo Alto earlier that morning.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a man in his twenties, had been walking alone on the pathway between businesses near Centennial Walk off the 300 block of University Avenue at some point after 1:30 a.m. or 2:00 a.m.  He encountered two suspects, one of whom asked him if he could spare a dollar.  When the victim said he could not, one or both suspects punched him multiple times in the head.  The victim said he could not really remember what had happened, but he thinks he was knocked unconscious.  When he awoke, his belongings (to include a backpack, a skateboard, a credit card, cash, and cell phone) were gone.  He walked back to his residence and notified police.  The victim had no visible physical injuries and complained of pain to one side of his head.

The victim described the two suspects as white men between 25 and 35 years of age.  One of them was about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build and was wearing dark khaki pants. He also had a moustache.  The victim could not describe the second suspect.

There have been no similar crimes reported in the recent past in Palo Alto.  Police are actively investigating the case.
