Hazardous Materials Incident Response Notifications

This website provides a list of Palo Alto Fire Department Hazardous Materials Notifications. Click on a specific incident for details. The City's notification and outreach approaches seek to balance public information sharing with the ongoing nature of the fire/hazardous materials investigation. Specific outreach will be driven by the severity, location, or amount of the spill/discharged. 

Following the October 2024 incident, the City evaluated reporting procedures and established a tiered communication approach based on incident severity. Additionally, new communication methods have been implemented including this dedicated webpage, an email sign-up to receive notifications, and a commitment to share Palo Alto Fire Department Hazardous Materials response details as information is available.
