Aiko Tezuka
About the artist:
The concepts of deconstruction and reconstruction lie at the center of Aiko Tezuka’s intricate textile works. Tezuka carefully unravels and re-weaves elaborate textiles to form new shapes and patterns. With this meticulous unraveling, the artist reverses time and, in the process, demystifies the unspooled surfaces. These undone tapestries become an exploration of what lies beneath, a reflection on the threads that bind past, present, and future.
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Tezuka received an MA from Musashino Art University and a PhD in Oil painting from the Kyoto City University of Arts. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
