School Fees

School Impact Fees are collected by the school district for all projects containing new units (including J/ADU), new construction, conversion, or a residential addition of five hundred (500) square feet or more. Square footage for carports, walkways, garages, overhangs, patios, enclosed patios, detached accessory structures, or other coverage are excluded from the calculation. These fees are assessed in accordance with Government Code Title 7. Division 1. Chapter 4.9 Section 65995.

Construction projects meeting the square footage criteria and that are approved and ready for permit issuance will be required to:

  1. Visit the Development Center or email your Project Coordinator to obtain the required school impact fee form.
  2. Visit the relevant School District offices to pay the required School Impact fees.
  3. Provide a receipt to your Project Coordinator.

These fees are not collected nor calculated by the City. Payment is to the associated School District directly and proof of payment (i.e. a receipt) is required prior to the City issuing a building permit.
