5, 4, 3, 2, 1: Drawing with Time and Rhythm

Next date: Sunday, November 22, 2026 | 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM

drawing workshop with sangah choi

In this one-hour figure-drawing workshop, participants will draw together with pencils for 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 minute—and sometimes even 30 seconds. We will begin with longer drawing times and slowly move to shorter, faster ones. Participants can try different pencil pressure, movement, and speed as the timing  changes. Participants may volunteer to pose for the group. As we draw, we will watch different poses and body movements and follow the changing rhythm  together. The timing will be repeated about three times.

Participants will make several drawings on 11 × 14-inch paper and one larger drawing on 18 × 24-inch paper, arranging several figures on one sheet. The workshop is open to adults of all levels. No drawing experience is needed.

Instructor: Sang-ah Choi

Materials: All materials will be provided, including 4B pencils, five sheets of 11 × 14-inch paper,
and one sheet of 18 × 24-inch paper for each participant.
