Lecture: Find Your Medium

How does an artist find the "right" medium for an idea, or decide when an idea needs a new one?

Sculptor, installation artist, Cubberley Artist-in-Residence, and San José State University Professor of Spatial Art Shannon Wright will discuss how shifts in material, process, and medium can open new directions in an artist’s practice. The talk will also explore artists who arrive at new approaches through experimentation, accident, or productive failure, and how those changes can transform both the work and the audience’s relationship to it.

The City of Palo Alto's Cubberley Artist Studio Program (CASP). This is a unique rent-subsidized program with 22 artist studios for long-term residencies and Rotating Artist Studios for short-term rentals.
