Location: Creative Space Lobby, Palo Alto Art Center
Free and open to all during regular Art Center hours
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Musical Bridge is a first-of-its-kind interactive sound installation that transforms simple human movements into evolving, original music using real-time AI. It was created by:
- Dr. Nolan Gasser, Chief Musicologist for Magical Bridge and architect of Pandora's Music Genome Project
- David Torgersen, Exhibit Designer at the San Francisco Exploratorium
- Quantiphi, an award-winning AI engineering firm and NVIDIA Elite Partner
The installation invites guests of all ages and abilities to explore Harmony Stations: motion-activated kiosks where gestures like a step or a wave trigger original compositions that adapt in real time through generative AI.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
- It's inclusive, intuitive, and screen-free — no musical background needed
- Visitors co-create live music just by moving through the space
- It offers a playful way to explore AI, accessibility, and human connection
- It is a prototype, and Palo Alto is the first public audience to experience it
CALL TO ACTION FOR VISITORS
This is a beta test and part of our innovation process. Visitors are encouraged to share feedback via printed forms and a digital QR code on-site. This feedback will help shape the future of Musical Bridge as we work toward permanent installations in public parks, schools, memory care centers, and museums.
