The first computer program was written by a woman and the design of the first computers was inspired by the jacquard weaving loom — historical facts that are little-known today. New media and textile artist Ahree Lee will share her recent body of work which explores the interconnections between weaving and computing, and the often-overlooked but essential role of women and textiles in the development of coding, while demonstrating the interconnections between fiber-related arts and computing by guiding participants in making their own weavings. All materials provided; no experience required.
