The Jed Foundation is partnering with the City to offer interactive workshops that equips community members with the knowledge and skills to help prevent suicide by supporting individuals who may be struggling and connect them with appropriate resources when needed. We will discuss how to identify signs that someone may be in distress, practice starting supportive conversations, and understand your role and limits when offering help. We will also review strategies for caring for yourself while supporting others. There will be opportunities for reflection, discussion, and practice.

Through this series, you will be able to:

  • Identify signs of distress and worsening mental health in others
  • Understand the full continuum of mental health - from thriving to distress
  • Understand ways to create a supportive and connected community
  • Discuss strategies for supporting someone who is struggling
  • Identify when and where to seek additional community or professional support
