Please join us for community meeting #2 to learn about the latest design for the safety improvements for the Alma/Churchill intersection.
This is a joint project with California Department of Transportation, Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (JPB), California Public Utilities Commission and City of Palo Alto to enhance safety. This intersection was identified for safety improvements as part of Section 130 federal funding for hazard elimination at the railroad crossing. Based on the final recommendations of the diagnostic team, improvements are designed and implemented by the City in the City’s right of way, and by the JPB in the JPB’s right of way.
Staff presented two concept plans for safety improvements for the intersection at a virtual community meeting on January 21, 2021. City Council approved Concept #1 on May 3, 2021, and staff has developed final design plans based on Concept #1. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2022.
