Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Information Session

Join the Palo Alto Police Department for a one-hour virtual information session on automated license plate recognition (ALPR) technology, which the Department is exploring the possibility of using to deter criminal activity and assist in criminal investigations in Palo Alto.  City Council will discuss this topic at its regular meeting on April 3, 2023.

Learn more about the technology, how it works, where cameras would be placed, what information it captures, how long the information is retained, and what privacy safeguards would be set in place.
