This National Police Week, join Chief Andrew Binder and other members of the Palo Alto Police Department in a short ceremony to honor the sacrifice of the three officers in Palo Alto history who have been killed in the line of duty. All members of the community are invited to attend in order to remember our three officers, Reserve Officer Lester Cole, Officer Gene Clifton, and Reserve Officer Theodore Brassinga. The ceremony takes place adjacent to Memorial Grove, three massive Coast Redwood trees that stand together at one corner of Cogswell Plaza. Memorial Grove was dedicated to our three fallen officers by the City of Palo Alto in 2014 with the help of Canopy, an environmental non-profit organization based in Palo Alto. The trees, originally planted at the site in 1955, are nearby the location of the City's first police station at 450 Bryant Street.
