Bay Area Urban Heat Island Mapping Campaign
Help map extreme heat in our community! The City is partnering with Palo Alto Student Climate Coalition (PASCC) on the Bay Area Heat Mapping Campaign, a volunteer supported effort to record temperatures in Palo Alto and neighboring communities on one of the hottest days of the year. This effort will help understand how our communities experience extreme heat and identify opportunities for cooling solutions in our most vulnerable neighborhoods.
On Tuesday, August 27, volunteers will drive along pre-planned routes (with sensors attached to their cars) to record temperature, humidity, and GPS location data throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park.
Sign up now or learn more about the campaign.
All volunteers are required to attend a training before participating in the campaign.
