To keep you connected and up to date on notable Palo Alto City Council meeting discussions, we are sharing a brief weekly update. At the City Council meeting on January 24, 2022, the following took place.

The City Council conducted a study session and heard a report about the 100 Community Conversations about Race from the Human Relations Commission, furthering the Race and Equity work by the Council, HRC and staff. 

They discussed a possible local tax ballot measure for the Nov. 2022 election and directed staff to pursue preparation of a square footage business license tax, develop a proposal to replace the General Fund Equity Transfer and eliminate the Utility Users Tax option, amend the workplan to three polls, and to launch the community and stakeholder engagement plan. 

Last, the proposed Objective Standards ordinance was amended to clarify a 150 ft. height transition zone and extend height transition rules.
