City to Evaluate Service Rates Marking a New Milestone in Advancing Locally-Owned Fiber Service
The Utilities Advisory Commission (UAC) is set to evaluate a proposal for Palo Alto Fiber’s internet services and rates during its May 7 meeting. The proposed services and rates are based on extensive market research, evaluation of customer needs, and competitive benchmarks. Establishing services and rates is a milestone in the City’s ability to offer fast and reliable service, enabling the next phase of piloting service delivery.
With the same quality service that’s delivering electricity, gas, water, wastewater, and dark fiber, residents and businesses can access world-class fiber internet services, brought to you by local staff. Faster speeds and more reliability are the advantages of fiber-to-the-home over cable and wireless.
Progress installing fiber infrastructure continues, including the fiber hut that will advance the pilot area. Piloting the services will inform the City’s decision on expanding services to more Palo Alto homes and businesses.
Staff continues to advance the City’s electrical grid modernization project and Palo Alto Fiber together, saving time, creating efficiencies and reducing costs.
