Palo Alto Permit View is a new staff-developed online tool that makes it easy to look up and research permit activity within the City of Palo Alto. Launched today and replacing BuildingEye, a third-party vendor agreement that ends December 31, Permit View continues existing access to Building, Planning, and Code Enforcement activity. The new search tool also offers enhancements such as searching by assessor’s parcel number, defining custom geographic areas for searches, and subscribing to email notifications based on a custom user-drawn boundary. This internally managed platform eliminates ongoing third-party subscription costs, resulting in long-term savings and greater control over updates and enhancements. Additional features and improvements will continue to be released throughout 2026.

The City will attempt to contact current BuildingEye subscribers to support creating a new account and setting up Permit View notifications. Please create a new account in Permit View. Though the existing BuildingEye website may still be active, data will not be updated and as such, should not be referenced for future projects. Please bookmark the new Permit View tool. If you need help, please email PDSData@paloalto.gov.
