Palo Alto, CA – Police are investigating the burglary of an occupied home Friday night.   The suspects are unknown and at large.

On Friday, May 30, 2025, at about 9:00 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a burglary that had just occurred at a residence on the 2300 block of Carmel Drive. The residents, a man and woman in their twenties, were awake in the residence when they heard people talking in the hallway.  The door to the man’s room opened and he saw a male suspect wearing a face mask.  When the suspect saw the resident, he ran out of the house.  When the woman heard the noise, she went to go check what the noise was and saw a flashlight beam in the hallway and someone running down the hall and exiting the house.

The investigation revealed that the unknown suspects had entered the home by smashing a rear sliding glass door. Nothing is known to have been taken.

Officers reviewed security camera footage in the area and determined that an unknown number of suspects had arrived and fled in a sedan.  Detectives are actively investigating this incident.
