Palo Alto received an Honorable Mention in the “Small City Category” of the 2024 Climate Protection Awards from the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The award winners are the 18th class of mayors to be honored for local actions that reduce carbon use and emissions in their cities. Palo Alto’s mayor received the award at the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s 92th Annual meeting in Kansas City, MO on June 20. The Mayor and Palo Alto City staff were recognized for the electrification campaign to encourage residents to electrify water heating, appliances, and transportation. This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve the quality of life for residents.
