James Lanahan

About the artist:

In his series Known Unknowns, James Lanahan explores how artworks accumulate distortions—first through their creators; then through viewers, who interpret artworks through evolving cultural lenses; and then through modern digital technologies, which further obscure the original subjects.

James Lanahan has merged his photography background with technology since the mid-1980s, as well as pioneered product development in the realms of 3D animation, digital photography, and social media. Lanahan is based in the Bay Area.
