Board, Commissions and Committee Recruitments Underway – Get Involved

Want to make a difference in Palo Alto? Fall recruitment of open Board, Commissions and Committee positions is underway! Members volunteer their time and expertise to review items and make recommendations to the City Council. If you would like to contribute towards helping our City continue fostering recovery, make progress on city priorities, and further the city’s legislative process, please consider applying for one of these open positions:

Architectural Review Board (3 openings)

  • Reviews design of all new construction, and changes and additions to commercial, industrial and multiple-family projects
  • 3-Year Terms Ending December 15, 2024

Parks and Recreation Commission (4 openings)

  • Advises the City Council on matters relating to the Open Space, Parks & Golf Division and the Recreation Division, excluding daily administrative operations
  • (3) 3-year Terms Ending December 15, 2024
  • (1) Unexpired Term Ending December 15, 2022

Planning and Transportation Commission (2 openings)

  • Advises the City Council on the City of Palo Alto's Comprehensive Plan, land use, zoning, subdivision and other related policy matters
  • 4-Year Terms Ending December 15, 2025

Historic Resources Board (one unscheduled vacancy)

  • Reviews and advises the City Council on proposed alterations or additions to significant structures or landmarks listed on the City's Historic Building Inventory
  • Unexpired Term Ending December 15, 2022
