The Palo Alto Community Survey is a feedback tool that helps the City Council and City staff understand community perspectives on current services and programs, as well as unmet needs and priorities. The survey was initially sent via mail on August 13 to a random sample population of resident households. On September 15, the survey opens citywide.

Each October, communities across the country mark Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme — “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home” — reminds us that everyday devices like phones, laptops, and e-bikes can pose fire risks if not used or charged properly.
In Palo Alto, prevention is a team effort. Firefighters and City staff play a role, but the most powerful changes often happen at home and in neighborhoods — through everyday habits, preparedness steps, and neighbors looking out for one another.
