Palo Alto Recognized on CDP’s 2024 A List for Climate Leadership

Published on June 12, 2025

The City of Palo Alto was named to the 2024 CDP A List, the top status available from the largest global independent environmental disclosure system that recognizes global leadership in environmental transparency, climate action, and resilience planning.

Earning a spot on CDP’s A List is a significant achievement that reflects the highest standard of local climate leadership and is indicative of many actions last year including launching an emergency water heater replacement program, launching Canopy Tree Plotter, and launching the Youth Climate Advisory Board.

Only 112 cities worldwide, or 15% of scored cities, earned CDP’s top status.

CDP Head of Climate Finance for Cities, States and Regions and North America Lead Katie Walsh applauded the City's achievement: "Congratulations to the City of Palo Alto for earning a spot on CDP’s A list. Palo Alto is leading by example, by disclosing transparently how it is prioritizing and integrating climate resiliency and sustainability across their city."
