Palo Alto Recognized on Climate Leadership A List

Published on January 20, 2026

For the fourth consecutive year, the City of Palo Alto was named to the CDP 2025 A List, the top status available from the largest independent environmental disclosure system that recognizes global leadership in environmental transparency, climate action, and resilience planning. Earning a spot on CDP’s A List is a significant achievement that reflects the highest standard of local climate leadership.

This achievement is indicative of the City's planning and action towards its 80x30 emissions reduction goal, as well as its other Sustainability and Climate Action Plan goals to enhance biodiversity, reduce landfilled waste, conserve water, and adapt to climate change. Recent accomplishments that move Palo Alto towards these goals include receiving gold designation for EV readiness and constructing the Bay Area's first horizontal "living levee."

Only 120 cities worldwide, or 16% of scored cities, earned CDP's top status.
