FY 2026 Street Resurfacing Project
The FY 2026 Street Resurfacing Project takes place starting August 2026 through November 2026. The project involves upgrading street corner ramps to meet ADA compliance, removal and replacement of damaged concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and driveway aprons to meet City standards as well as storm drain repairs on select streets. After the concrete work is complete, the roadways will be milled, repaved, and re-striped.
A portion of Adobe Creek Trail will be repaved early October. Refer to the general map linked below for paving limits at Adobe Creek Trail. Detours through the Baylands will be posted before and after the limits of construction.
Starting October 1, California Avenue from El Camino Real to Birch Street will be repaved. Work hours for this section of work were approved for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m..
On October 1, the contractor will grind out the existing asphalt pavement on California Avenue from El Camino Real to Birch Street. This will result in noise from the asphalt grinder, jackhammering, trucks hauling material, and some dust in the surrounding area. This will be followed by paving from El Camino Real to Ash Street which will continue until the end of the workday. This work will include noise from trucks delivering asphalt and a noticeable asphalt smell.
On October 2, the contractor will complete paving on California Avenue from Ash Street to Birch Street. Expect noise from trucks delivering asphalt and the typical asphalt scent associated with paving.
On October 21-23 and 26, the contractor will install stamped asphalt crosswalks. This work has minimal noise and a minor scent of asphalt, similar to paving, due to re-heating the roadway surface during crosswalk installation.
Construction hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for local/residential street and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for collector/arterial streets. This work will require limited parking restrictions and driveway closures during construction. Residents will be notified if closure of their driveway is necessary. Three days before any work begins, “No Parking” signs will be placed on the street restricting parking in work areas. Above dates and the project schedule are subject to change due to inclement weather or delays.
FY 2024 Street Resurfacing Project – California Avenue
California Avenue work associated with the FY 2024 Street Resurfacing Project is scheduled for Fall 2026. This portion of the project involves repaving California Avenue from El Camino Real to Yale Street and adjusting striping, signage, and traffic signals at the El Camino Real intersection to reflect the California Avenue street closure from El Camino Real to Ash Street.
Construction hours at California Ave are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for local/residential street and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for collector/arterial streets. This work will require limited parking restrictions and driveway closures during construction. Residents and businesses will be notified if closure of their driveway is necessary. Three days before any work begins, “No Parking” signs will be placed on the street restricting parking in work areas.
