The Crossbore Phase IV-A Project will inspect 951 private and public sewer laterals throughout the City to verify natural gas pipelines were not installed within the sanitary sewer lateral service. When a natural gas pipeline is unintentionally installed within the sewer lateral, it is known as a Crossbore and must be repaired immediately. This Crossbore inspection project will be conducted by the City’s Water-Gas-Wastewater Utilities Operations staff. City crews will perform a camera inspection of the private and public sewer lateral to complete the inspection. Notification letters will be sent to residents prior to the inspection. On inspection days, City crews will inform available residents on-site about the inspection at their property. Residents are not required to be on-site for the inspection. Access to the front yard, backyard, and side yard will be needed to locate sewer cleanouts. If locked yard access is required, the City will contact the resident to gain access. The 951 sewer lateral inspections are divided into 4 quadrant areas within the City.
The project began in September 2024. Inspections have been completed, but additional reinspection is required for sewer laterals not cleared in Quadrants 1, 2, and 4. Inspections are continuing for Quadrant 3.
Inspection hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Additional work may be needed for laterals that require further inspection.
