Crossbore Phase IV-A
Project Description
The Crossbore Phase IV-A Project will inspect 951 private and public sewer laterals throughout the City to verify natural gas pipelines were not installed within the sanitary sewer lateral service. When a natural gas pipeline is unintentionally installed within the sewer lateral, it is known as a Crossbore and must be repaired immediately.
Camera inspections of the laterals will be conducted by City Utilities staff.
Notification letters will be sent to residents prior to inspections. On inspection days, City crews will inform residents on-site about the inspection at their property. Residents are not required to be on-site for the inspection. Access to the front yard, backyard, and side yard are needed to locate sewer cleanouts. If locked yard access is required, staff will contact residents to gain access.
The 951 sewer lateral inspections are divided into 4 quadrant areas within the City.
- Quadrant 1 includes 70 sewer inspections on the South side of Alma Street between Sand Hill Road (including Clark Way) and Page Mill Road.
- Inspected and cleared 46 sewer laterals. The remaining 24 laterals will be scheduled for reinspection
- Quadrant 2 includes 286 sewer inspections on the North side of Alma Street between Palo Alto Avenue and Oregon Expressway.
- Quadrant 3 includes 391 sewer inspections on the North side of Alma Street between Oregon Expressway and San Antonio Road.
- Quadrant 4 includes 204 sewer inspections on the South side of Alma Street between Page Mill Road and San Antonio Road.
- Inspected and cleared 107 sewer laterals. The remaining 97 laterals will be scheduled for re-inspection
Construction Schedule
The project began in September 2024. Inspections were completed for Quadrants 1 and 4, but additional inspection is required for sewer laterals not cleared. Inspections will continue for 286 sewer laterals in Quadrant 2.
Inspection hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Additional work may be needed for laterals that require further inspection.
