Project Description

The Natural Gas Main Replacement Project 24B replaced approximately 20,000 linear feet of natural gas mains and services with polyethylene (PE) pipe in the neighborhoods of University Park and Crescent Park, a business district complex adjacent on Geng Road, Town & Country Village Plaza, and along Embarcadero Road between Alma and Emerson.

The City identified gas mains and services made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and black-wrapped steel (BWP) that were near or past their operational life expectancy, became brittle over time, and were corroded due to the lack of cathodic protection. In addition, approximately 145 linear feet of 6-inch PVC water main were installed and replaced three existing water services at Town & Country Village Plaza.

Scope of Work

  • Replace the gas distribution system with PE.
  • Install PE gas main and gas services at the business complex on Geng Road, Town & Country Village Plaza, and University Avenue.
  • Install PVC water main and replacing three existing water services at Town & Country Village.
