Third-Party Service Providers for City Dark Fiber

The City of Palo Alto licenses dark fiber on a nonexclusive basis to direct customers and service providers.

The City provides dark fiber infrastructure under separate agreements. The service providers listed below are intended to help prospective direct dark fiber customers identify independent third-party companies that may offer internet, telecommunications, transport, backhaul, or related services using or in connection with City dark fiber. Those provider services are separate from services provided by the City. 

The City is not a party to agreements between customers and any listed provider and is not responsible for services offered by third-party providers. This list is not intended to be comprehensive and does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, guarantee of availability, or assurance regarding provider pricing, service quality, project schedule, or performance. 

Customers are responsible for evaluating providers and selecting the option that best fits their needs. Provider service availability depends on location, routing, engineering review, and execution of applicable project documents. Providers interested in being added to this list must have a current executed Dark Fiber License Agreement with the City of Palo Alto and be in good standing under that agreement. 
 
Provider Eligibility: 

  • Current executed Dark Fiber License Agreement with the City of Palo Alto 
  • Good standing under that Agreement
  • At least one project in good standing under that Agreement 

Providers on this list may offer one or more of the following service types to prospective Palo Alto customers: 

  • Business Internet 
  • Transport / Backhaul
  • Enterprise or Carrier Connectivity
