Project Description
The Natural Gas Main Replacement Project 25 will replace approximately 25,500 linear feet of natural gas mains and services with polyethylene (PE) pipe in the Duveneck/St. Francis, Leland Manor, Midtown, and Palo Verde neighborhoods. This project is 100% grant-funded through the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization (NGDISM) Grant Program.
The project will replacement of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and black-wrapped steel (BWP) gas mains and gas services that are near their operational life expectancy, have become brittle over time, and are identified to be corroded.
Scope of Work
Replacing gas distribution systems with Polyethylene (PE) pipe.
Area 1
Leland Manor neighborhood - Northampton Drive and Southampton Drive
Area 2
Duveneck/St. Francis neighborhood - Walter Hays Drive, Stanley Way, & Lois Lane
Area 3
Midtown and Palo Verde neighborhoods - along Ross Road and surrounding streets.
Project Status
Construction begins February 23, 2026, pending weather delays.
- Area 1 (Anticipated start date 02/23/26): Leland Neighborhood’s Northampton Drive and Southampton Drive.
- Area 2 (Anticipated start date 05/11/26): Duveneck/St. Francis Neighborhood’s Walter Hays Drive, Stanley Way, and Lois Lane.
- Area 3 (Anticipated start date 07/24/26): Midtown Neighborhood’s Ross Road, Loma Verde Avenue, and Middlefield Road
The anticipated completion date is August 31, 2027.
Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Restricted work hours will be applied to school routes and bike lanes for the duration of the project.
