The Safe Routes to School Program is a local community partnership between the City, Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD), and Parents Teacher Association (PTA). The partnership mission is to reduce risk to students en route to and from school and encourage families to choose healthy, active, and sustainable alternatives to driving solo more often.
Safe Routes to School is part of a national movement targeting improved safety and active transportation choices for families and communities. The mission of the local City / Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) / Parent-Teacher Association Safe Routes to School (PTA SRTS) community partnership is to reduce risk to students en route to and from school, and to encourage more families to choose healthy, active, sustainable alternatives to driving solo more often. The Five-Year Work Plan(PDF, 215KB) outlines program goals and strategies for achieving them.
