Sullivan's work is characterized by movement and spontaneity, freedom and improvisation, both in the result and in the process. Images act as organic metaphors for landscape, vegetation and humanity, suggested in non-literal shapes and color. In her work, Sullivan actively advocates a sense of ambiguity in order to engage the viewer's interpretation.
