The Running Wall was a site-specific functional sculpture by artist Aaron Lee Benson in front of City Hall. Constructed of two by fours, the piece began with a functional bench connected to a rippling low wall that serpentined between the trees, then culminated in a circular sculptural element at the other end of the installation. The temporary installation remained on display from October 2016 through March 2017. At the conclusion of the six-month installation, a portion of the wood was donated to graduating art practice students at Stanford University to be used for the 2017 MFA Thesis Exhibition.
