The Palo Alto Community Survey is a feedback tool that helps the City Council and City staff understand community perspectives on current services and programs, as well as unmet needs and priorities. The survey was initially sent via mail on August 13 to a random sample population of resident households. On September 15, the survey opens citywide.
From a distance, the gradient appears smooth; up close, it falters and fractures. This play between surface and depth reflects the paradox of decision-making—simple in appearance, yet heavy with unseen weight. For first responders, choices must be made instantly, yet their impact is immense. The work embodies this tension, translating the abstract act of deciding into 1,700 pounds of physical mass
